Winning the lottery is considered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. But one Indiana woman is defying all odds, winning the lottery twice in the past three months.
Lina Eaton, 91, won her first lottery last August after entering the Hoosier Lottery Quick Draw. Her chance of winning was one in 8.9 million. She received a $300,000 cash prize.
Of course, Ms. Eaton would have been content with just one win. In fact, she had begun to spend her first cash prize on renovations to her Indianapolis home. But the stars aligned for Ms. Eaton once more, when she won her second lottery.
This time, Ms. Eaton won the “Scorchin Hot 9s” lottery. She received a $99,999 cash prize; the ticket had cost her a mere $5. According to the Indianapolis Star, the chance of Ms. Eaton winning that second lottery in that time frame was one in 5.7 trillion.
Ms. Eaton has big plans for her lotto prizes. In addition to fixing up her house, she also hopes to give a large portion of her prize money to her 36 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And she will take a trip with her family.
