What Your Birth Month Says About The Career You’re Born For

What Your Birth Month Says About the Career You're Born ForRead this fun Savvy Sugar piece to find out what career you were born to pursue.

Apparently, there is statistical evidence that shows you have a higher chance of ending up in certain types of jobs depending on your birth month, a study by the Office for National Statistics in the UK findsThe month you’re born in can have some effect on life outcomes. The reason isn’t due to horoscopes, but to seasonal interferences, according to Oxford neuroscientist Russell Foster.

“It seems absurd the month in which you are born can affect life chances, but how long you live, how tall you are, how well you do at school, your body mass index as an adult, your morning-versus-evening preference and how likely you are to develop a range of diseases are all correlated to some extent with the time of year in which you emerge from the womb,” Foster says.

Here are some of the different careers and characteristics associated with birth months:

  • January: Debt collectors and general practitioners
  • February: Artists and traffic wardens.
  • March: Pilots and musicians.
  • April: Dictators.
  • May: Politicians.
  • June: CEOs and Nobel prize winners.
  • July: Bricklayers, train drivers, and artists.
  • August: Bricklayers and US presidents.
  • September: Athletes and physicists.
  • October: Centenarians or people who live really long lives.
  • November: Serial killers and schizophrenics.
  • December: Dentists and messiahs.

As a September baby, the list isn’t very accurate because the only athletic ability I seem to have is working out my mouth muscles during meals. Do these examples ring true for you?

I figured this would be silly and fun, but it’s pretty lame that the only options for some months are negative. Of course, this information would have been useful as an ungrateful teenager, so I could’ve had proof my mother is a dictator.

  • Alicia

Wow, sucks if you were born in November, huh?

  • Dana

October doesn’t even have a career option. We have “really long lives”, but what do we do until then?

I agree with the whole influence concept, however I have no desire to be either a dentist or a messiah. Then again, I never really have been average…

What’s a traffic warden? Personally, I think this is really off. I was born in February, but would probably have closest to a CEO personality.

Politician makes sense to me.  I’m always thinking about that.

Wow, November is just plain mean.  Am I really supposed to tell my son that?  Did someone tell Lyle Lovett, Stephen Crane, k.d.lang, David Schwimmer, Daniel Boone, Ralph Macchio, Walter Cronkite, Will Rogers, Tatum O’Neal, Vivien Leigh, Ethan Hawke, Maria Shriver, Sally Field, John Philip Sousa, Madame Curie, Bonnie Raitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Demi Moore, Kurt Vonnegut Jr., Ed Asner, Georgia O’Keeffe, Danny DeVito, Robert F. Kennedy, Marlo Thomas, John F. Kennedy Jr., Jon Stewart, Winston Churchill, Jonathan Swift and Dick Clark.  All famous serial killers so I see where there could be that conclusion.  Not just quackery, but quackery without any cleverness.  Just mean spirited.

Disappointed that I spent 3 minutes reading this article and that’s 3 minutes of my life I can’t ever get back.

Actually, I was born in March and I’m a professional musician having toured the globe in front of thousands.  I actually chuckled when I read this.  Go figure.
