Sarah Jessica Parker and Angelina Jolie reigned supreme as the highest-paid actresses last year, says Forbes, enjoying earnings of $30 million each.
Parker continues to ride on the success of Sex and the City, making much of her money off reruns of the popular television show. The second movie, which came out in 2010, didn’t do as well as the first (which raked in $415 million), but nevertheless earned a considerable $290 million.
On top of this, Parker markets a series of fragrances, including Lovely, Covet and NYC, which brought in $18 million in 2010. She has begun to help design clothes for the fashion brand Halston as well.
Jolie’s success this past year mainly stemmed from her two big-budget thrillers. Salt brought in a hefty $300 million on a budget of $110 million, and despite a lukewarm opening weekend, “The Tourist” went on to earn $280 million, thanks in large part to the overseas market.
After these two divas come Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, who both made $28 million despite weak openings of their recent films. Julia Roberts is next, having earned $20 million after the success of Eat Pray Love. Surprisingly, a new face is ranked right up there with Roberts: Kristen Stewart, who got her big break from the Twilight films, also made $20 million.
Rounding out the list are: Katherine Heigl ($19 million), Cameron Diaz ($18 million), Sandra Bullock ($15 million) and Meryl Streep ($10 million).
In all, these 10 actresses earned an impressive $218 million between May 2010 and May 2011.
