Lessons From Fall Fashion Week: Wear Winter White

The old adage tells us not to wear white after Labor Day, but the style we saw at the MTV Video Music Awards tells us otherwise. (Just ask Katy Perry or Audrina Partridge from "The Hills.") Similarly, Fashion Week has taught us that there’s no need to retire your whites after an arbitrary date—the key is simply to know how to pull off those whites during the winter so they harmonize your whole look, rather than making you seem seasonally inappropriate. After all, we don’t want you to lose access to a solid chunk of your closet for half the year. Read on for our slide show on how to make the most of your wardrobe by wearing winter white in the style of the top designers:

Two inspirations for wearing winter white well: Diane Keaton’s turtlenecks in the movie “Something’s Gotta Give” and the white winter coats that Jennifer Lopez wears. She had an amazing one http://www.imdb.com/media/rm4002126080/tt0252076 in the “Maid In Manhattan” movie. (Terrible movie, beautiful clothes.)
