Web Developer PHP, WordPress, JQuery

We are looking for a sharp PHP developer who has deep experience with WordPress and Jquery to join the growing tech team and help take the WordPress based LearnVest Website to the next level.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing WordPress blog and website.
  • Work with the content and product team to implement new features.
  • Develop new WordPress themes.
  • Work with creative design team to turn designs into a working reality.
  • Troubleshoot PHP and WordPress issues.
  • Develop custom WordPress plugins and themes.
  • Assist with front-end development (XHTML, CSS, JavaScript) across the LearnVest Network.
  • Implement upgrades to the WordPress core and related plugins.
  • Develop interactive front-end features using XHTML, CSS & Jquery.
  • Keep abreast of WordPress enhancements and updates and make recommendations on how they can be used to improve the site.

Experience/Skills:

  • 2+ years professional PHP4/5 experience.
  • 2+ years WordPress development experience.
  • Experience working with wordpress as a CMS and blog platform.
  • Deep understanding of the WordPress core, theming, best practices, plugins and APIs.
  • Excellent CSS, Javascript + jQuery, and cross platform xHTML skills.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Adope Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Working knowledge of MySQL and building Object Orientated Web Applications.
  • Experience in resolving cross-browser compatibility issues.
  • Experience working with the LAMP stack.
  • Familiar working in a collaborative development environment, SVN/Git, Trac/Redmine.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Knowledge of unix or linux is a plus.
  • Strong sense of design and user interface principles.
  • Understanding of WordPress custom content types and taxonomies.
  • Working Knowledge of Adobe Flash, ActionScript or Adobe Flex.
  • A quick learner who can make the right decisions in solving common web development issues.
  • Enthusiastic about web and other internet technologies.
  • Self-starter who can adapt quickly in a fast changing startup environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Compensation

Is competitive with industry standards and will be based on candidates specific experience.
