When I accepted a job after 9 months of unemployment I took less money then I was making at my previous job for a similar position. At the one year mark when I was reviewed I made a bullet point sheet of all the things I had done during the year, projects I had taken on, etc and spoke with my boss about the fact that I took less money then I was making at my previous job and would she consider a raise to get me up to a more comparable salary. I ended up with a small one time raise and a bonus that was written in for me to receive every year.
