How much do I need to start investing?
  • How much money does it take to start investing? Share how much you had when you opened your first account.
  • This would be a great discussion and I'd love to hear more. I just finished University, now working, and I'm new to investing, savings etc. so discovering exactly how much you should be saving every month would be helpful. Where is the best place to go for these conversations?
  • I don't think any amount is too small. I started with $100. Isn't it the idea of saving regardless of how much it is?
  • I prefer to invest 10% of every salary i earn.........
  • No amount is too small to start investing. Years(and I mean YEARS) ago at age 24 I started saving a few hundred dollars a year in my IRA. Later in life I maxed the IRA and started saving in taxable accounts. A couple of good breaks in my work life and continued savings have allowed my accounts to grow to about $2.8 million. That is just my cash and investments. I also own a house and a small business both valued at $3 million. I have no debts. I started out with zero savings and assets at age 24. Also lived on welfare up to that point. Start saving small and it will grow over time.
