Not in the United States
  • Hi ! I really like this website. I suscribed 2 weeks ago. But my access is limited because I cannot link my accounts (I don't have bank accounts in the United States and it's impossible to add international bank accounts). Is there a way to do it manually or not ?
    I would like to enter my bank accounts informations, expenses and be able to du budgets.

    We are currently focusing our outreach in the United States, though much of what we suggest--especially in our bootcamp programs--is applicable no matter where you live. That said, for the time being, we are only offering U.S. accounts within the Money Center, but it is always good for us to know that there is international interest.

  • Thanks for your answer LV. And once again, I have to say that your website is a great ressource and is very complete. Like you said, a bunch of the informations are applicable for people outside the United States, which is why it's interesting for me too.
    But I wanted to know if it's possible to use the "account" page where I can add my transactions (debits, credits) and create budgets, or is it only reserved to the bank accounts ?
    Anyway, I will be in Miami in november and I'm looking forward to opening a bank account there. Ideally I was thinking of opening 2 bank accounts : a saving one and a regular one that would give me access to a debit card, so I can do online purchases even when I am out of the US (very often, websites don't accept international cards). Do you have any suggestions for the banks ?

    Unfortunately, there's not currently a way to manually add transactions to the My Money Center. The only way to add transactions to your Financial Inbox is by linking your account to LV. You can still definitely use the Budgeting Tool though, to figure out how much you have to spend each month.

    I'm sorry that our system does not currently link to accounts from your credit union. As LearnVest grows we do expect to link to a broader array of accounts and you can request that yours be added to our available institutions by clicking here: http://bit.ly/TplpfS.

    In the meantime, the best thing to do is to add your account as a manual account. When you manually add an account you are adding the balance of an account without connecting it dynamically. This allows you to create a budget as long as you keep your account balance up to date.

    You can also add transactions manually by clicking on the "Add Cash" button in the Inbox tab. Although these transactions won't be associated with the account, you can update the balance of the manually added account to reflect any money coming in or going out.
