little discretion in my budget
  • I am a student paying for my Masters as I go. It is quite expensive. Between tuition, past student loans and credit card bills, plus living expenses, there is no discretion at all in my budget. Once my fiance, who I live with, covers remaining expenses, all that's left is 500 euros per month, which we are saving for our wedding. Sometimes I feel like my bills budget for me, and that I have no discretion at all! I know that the wedding is a choice, but it leaves us very far from 30% discretionary spending for every day enjoyment like vacations or restaurants.

Has anyone entirely put everyday enjoyment on hold for something big (like in my case, a wedding)? Was it worth it? What helped you get through it?
