Trying to lower interest rates

Anyone else frustrated in trying to lower the interest rate on their credit card? I have an excellent credit score, impeccable payment history, and read countless articles about how it's so simple to just call your bank and ask them to lower your credit score. Well, I've experienced nothing but struggles and frustrations in my attempt to lower my credit score with the card issuer. Any other suggestions?
