Tracking your spending
  • Hello! Does anyone use personal finance software to track spending and run reports? I'm self-employed, so both of these things are essential -- not only at tax time, but also, during the year to keep things running smoothly. I used to use Quicken, but when I upgraded my Mac was dismayed to discover it's no longer supported. So now, my record-keeping is a free-for-all. Do any of you use software to track spending? And if so, what? And how hard was it to learn? I tried IBank but found it too complicated with very little user-support (plus, NO ONE I knew knew anything about how to use it). And Mint.com doesn't issue reports. I'm pretty much at my wits end and looking for support. Anyone?
  • Outright accounting is pretty good. It's for business owners, but it's free, so anyone can use it. I'd just suggest adding new categories to customize it yourself. Like entertainment and meals, to grocery, and another for fast food.
