We've all heard the saying "dress for the job you want," but how do you do this and look good on a tight budget?
I'm nearing the end of my college career, and while I have a bevy of "professional" pieces in my closet (way too many collared shirts, a few two piece suits and suitable shoes), I am completely lost at how to pull together an interview outfit that makes me stand out in a good way.
I am entering a field where it is important for me to look credible and pulled-together, but stylish and creative at the same time. A collared shirt just doesn't scream " I can think outside of the box!"
I'm looking for resources covering fashionable and affordable professional attire for women. Any suggestions?
I say, read VOGUE then go to H and M and Forever 21. But make it an active process. Clip out pictures of the look you want and then figure out how to get it for less.
I find this website invaluable for work outfit ideas: http://www.jseverydayfashion.com. I think I actually first saw it on a LV blog!
The lady who writes is, J, gives really useful advice on finding good pieces that work for multiple outfits. It's definitely worth taking a look through her old albums for ideas; she has several work/office-specific posts and advice for shopping on a budget (find them through the Table of Contents page). Check out her "Four Easy Office Style Secrets" posting first to get an idea of her style.
Good luck.
