  • My pledge is to pay off my credit card debt and never carry a balance again. I only have between $2,000 and $3,000, which isn't desirable but is manageable. I want to be able to throw my debt payments into bigger and better things, like paying off my student loans and saving for my future. I've paid down my credit cards before, but always spent them back up-- this time I'm ready to really make a change.
  • I will live my richest life by saving up $20,000- 25,000 before I leave my job to pursue my dreams of being a full-time performing artist.
  • My partner and I bought a house in 2010 that we started to renovate by ourselves (bf is a contractor) on a shoestring budget, but weather, zoning/building dept and personal health issues forced us to stop. I have been working on my credit since last September in order to get a renovation loan. My pledge is to finish this house and sell it before the end of 2012 (because I never want to see it again after all the heartache it has caused me) and use some of the money I make to pay off credit card debt ($8600), put $10k-$15k in emergency/travel/etc savings and top off my IRAs for 2012 year. I also have goals of starting my own business, but that might wait until 2013. I realize those are extremely lofty and detailed goals/pledges, but I know I can make it happen!
  • My pledge is to pay off what I still owe of credit cards, motorcycle payments and student loans - about $25,000 worth. I started this journey $9,000 more in the hole about 10 months ago, so my aim is to make this happen in another year by selling the old motorcycle, and not spending on myself (making accessories instead of buying, for instance). I've already kicked the coffee shop habit, and I brown bag it every day. My new motorcycle gets 65 mpg, so that helps with the gas costs of my 40 mile round trip job commute. :)
  • I pledge to pay off my remaining credit card debt over the next 18 months in full and to never carry credit card debt again. Secondly, I pledge to get my emergency savings account funded to $30,000 in 40 months. I can do this if I stick to my budget and keep my current job :-) So keep your fingers crossed for me! By that time, I'm thinking I may be ready to become a mom, so baby will have a good financial start to her/his life. And THEN we'll need a house to put the baby in, so I'm hoping to have my 1-bedroom condo paid off in the next 5 years from now. I'm making extra payments each month, I'm on a 15-yr amort. and I'm planning to apply bonus money to that goal as well...also I pledge to get my Master's in Economics because I've always promised myself that I would - and I have a 529 plan I've been contributing to since last year to help with that! Oh, also hoping hubby finishes his masters as planned and gets a job by Jan. 2014 so he can start paying down his student loans and we can also fund his savings and retirement accounts. My retirement fund is looking pretty good - I plan to keep it up and increase it whenever I can!
