Student loan payments paid on Credit Card? http://www.learnvest.com/discussions/discussion/310/student-loan-payments-paid-on-credit-card Fri, 08 Mar 2013 20:48:31 -0500 mjspencer515 310@/discussions/discussions
I have a 0 balance on my credit card and was thinking of having my 3 student loans to be paid each month on my credit card and then I would just have to make one payment to my credit card (instead of the hassle of having my student loans hit my debit card multiple times a month).

Does anyone do this- pros/cons?]]>
Manual Entry of Checking Transaction http://www.learnvest.com/discussions/discussion/305/manual-entry-of-checking-transaction Thu, 28 Feb 2013 12:55:50 -0500 Sica 305@/discussions/discussions
Sooo.... how do I manually enter the debit card transaction for this account. They are almost entirely checks and debit card transactions. NOT cash. I have no idea where to start.

I have other accounts that you can not connect to, due to working with local institutions verses national, that make it better for me, and these are items that I need to manually enter as well.

Please help

Pay debt or save? looking for advice! http://www.learnvest.com/discussions/discussion/302/pay-debt-or-save-looking-for-advice Sun, 24 Feb 2013 17:22:01 -0500 mjspencer515 302@/discussions/discussions
I just paid off my CC in full (great feeling) and now I'm going to take on my 80k in student loan debt head on. But to do this agressively should I hold off on saving and put all towards my debt repayment? Or is not saving the wrong route?

Last summer I was laid off from my job. I filled for unemployment [in the state of GA] and recieved almost 2K in payments. Later my previous employer took me to appeals court, they won, and I had to pay all of that money back. I had also already signed up for, and elected for both state and federal taxes to be taken out of said checks, because I didn't want to have to worry about it come tax time.

Well, now I'm worrying about it because I just got my tax document from the GA DOL and it's basically stating "this is how much you were given" and "this is how much were taxes that were taken out" - but nothing on there says that I've already paid all that back. I have the receipts and formal letter saying my balance was paid from the DOL offices, but am I going to get slammed with this once I file? Am I going to have to pay taxes twice on this?

Has anyone been in a similar situation with this or have any advice?]]>

I am trying to create a couple of folders in the lifestyle category but they will not add. I've tried pre-existing labels and creating my own and neither work. Adding to the other categories works fine. Is this a known issue? Thanks. ]]>
Car Expenses http://www.learnvest.com/discussions/discussion/291/car-expenses Fri, 01 Feb 2013 17:12:02 -0500 fauwl 291@/discussions/discussions
After 15 minutes, the technician returned with a list of items that needed to be done to my car. I know some of these services aren't really necessary and are just a way for them to make a quick sale. Other items sounded legitimate though. I was pressed for time so I ended up going with the oil change ($40), a fuel injection service ($90), and a filter ($30). They gave me a $30 discount, but my little trip still ended up costing over $100.

What services are truly necessary and which ones likely aren't worth the seemingly high cost?]]>

I am trying to understand how to split a transaction in the App version of Learnvest, but all I see is the option to place the entire transaction in a new folder... Is this something that I'm missing or is this a function that is not available yet?

I see the article here: http://support.learnvest.com/customer/portal/articles/722052-desktop-can-i-split-one-transaction-between-multiple-folders- but this seems only available for the Desktop version...

Thanks for feedback!]]>
Issue with transactions all auto categorized incorrectly http://www.learnvest.com/discussions/discussion/277/issue-with-transactions-all-auto-categorized-incorrectly Thu, 13 Dec 2012 09:06:55 -0500 DanG1580 277@/discussions/discussions
I have been using Learnvest for a few months now, and had no issues with how most of my transactions were categorized, such as groceries, transportation, etc. However, I created a new category recently that is titled "Moving and Storage" and now nearly every debited transaction that posts is being categorized by Learnvest under Moving and Storage. Why is this happening and how can this be fixed?

Thank you,

Biggest investment I've ever made http://www.learnvest.com/discussions/discussion/260/biggest-investment-i039ve-ever-made Wed, 17 Oct 2012 15:09:29 -0400 ebaiden 260@/discussions/discussions I'm currently working in my first job and I'd like to say I'm very greatful to be working there. I've never been in such an enviroment of full supportive and positive people (men) ... (there's a handful of women too, they're nice too).
Anyways, it's my first job, I love it. I've been working here for almost 5 months now and if it wasn't for Learnvest I wouldn't have know where all my money would have gone to. It's so colorful here, and I love the fact that each color represents a goal met, income, espenditure etc. Finally Finance makes SENSE!!!
Anyways, I've been here (in Learnvest) for almost a month and a half, and doing so I had saved close to 1500, which is wonderful because it took me almost 4 months to earn close to that kind of money (I knoooowwww...... it's because I'm a nice person and I lend and lend and lend and barely spend on myself).
with the addition of the 1500, I'm about to make the biggest investment I've ever made in my life which is buying a car. I'm sad and excited at the same time.
1. I'm sad because it's my very first time I've ever earned and saved this much and to see it go so soon... oh, what a tragedy :tears:.
2. I'm excited because I FINALLY have a reliable transportation, and I can FOR ONCE stop relying on others, stop freezing to death and STOP being late.

With this, I could potentially keep my job that was supposed to be temporary, or
Drive around and do a million things in a short amount of time, than riding the bus and doing a million things in a million days (so exhausting).
When I buy a car, I am now expected to bear more responsibility which I'm not used to:
Buying gas almost every week (I used to spend at least 30 bucks of gas money on a 1 month bus pass)
Car Insurance monthly Payment
Maintaining my car at least once every 3 months. (especially since it's an old used vehicle with alot of mileage, I need to take EXTRA care of it).

That sounds like alot of dough and no social time if I want to stay debt-free that is. But, I think I should be fine. As long as Learnvest stays, I am now motivated to stay in the green (as I am EXTREMELY colored OCD).
I'm just greatful for all the experiences I've gone through these few months at my first job, and being educated in Learnvest of my financial status.

-Cheers ]]>

Lately, I feel like I've been seeing a TON of articles on people, women in particular, that are simplifying their lives down to the bare-bones minimal items they need to survive and be happy.

I sank myself into a bunch of debt that I'm STILL working to pay off, all for want of material things. I felt like I was much happier when I had less and was enjoying the EXPERIENCES life brought me over the material things I've accumulated since I graduated college and started working.

I've been feeling really inspired to start simplifying my life, and start cutting out material things that aren't bringing me happiness. Have any of you gone through this process? I'm assuming it was challenging. Do you have any tips for someone looking to do it?]]>

I've been a subscriber for over a year and I am always reading articles Learnvest posts to Facebook (especially anything to do with the psychology of money), following their quick tips on Twitter, and re-pinning inspiration on Pinterest!

I'd love to get anyone's tips and advice on car buying! I'm in the market for one and since I am single, will be doing it on my own. I've watched the Business Insider video on buying a car using game theory (http://www.learnvest.com/knowledge-center/how-to-use-game-theory-to-get-a-great-deal-on-a-car/).. has anyone tried that approach?]]>
