The Job Market Comes Out of Hibernation

It may sound contradictory to the season’s lazy-day feel, but according to a number of market-watchers, summer will be when the job market finally starts to heat up.

The private sector tacked on close to 200,000 jobs in March—the largest growth in three months, according to ADP, a payroll processing firm. Even better, the job growth wasn’t restricted to just one area. In fact, ADP notes that hiring is on the rebound in businesses of all types, although fields like construction and financial services should see particular upticks.

While March’s unemployment rate, released today by the Labor Department, remained flat at 6.7%, many predict job hiring numbers will shoot up with the temperatures over the next few weeks. “The job market is coming out from its deep winter slumber,” Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, told MSN Money. “Even better numbers are likely in coming months.”
