At our second annual LearnVest LIVE event, we brought LearnVesters across the country together to hang out, network and talk about our favorite topic: money.
Joanna Coles, editor in chief of Cosmopolitan magazine, taught us about salary negotiation ("Power is access to information. Only by providing information can we empower each other."); LearnVest C.E.O. and founder Alexa von Tobel talked about financial responsibility ("Not having a plan is a plan ... a bad plan."); Kathy Murphy, president of Fidelity Personal Investing, explained why women are positioned to master finance ("Men are interested in short-term performance. Women are interested in long-term results.").
That's not to mention insight from experts such as foodie and television host Daphne Oz, real estate author Alison Rogers, fashion designer Nanette Lepore and LearnVest's own Director of Financial Planning Stephany Kirkpatrick. The panel of experts dished on everything from why we shouldn't live "placeholder lives" to the biggest real estate mistakes first-time homebuyers make.
