When you hear "date night," you probably picture a romantic, candlelit dinner out with your honey. The two of you are sitting at a table tucked away in the corner of a fancy bistro, savoring a delicious meal complete with appetizers and decadent desserts ...
... only to have your reverie interrupted when you're handed the pricey and decidedly unromantic check.
Because that's the thing about a night out: It adds up quickly.
Now that autumn has arrived and the weather's getting cooler, why not create a cozy (and affordable!) date night in? Instead of blowing your budget on a four-course meal at a four-star restaurant, cook up a deceptively indulgent dish at home, courtesy of chef and Food Network star Aida Mollenkamp.
Mollenkamp shares eight, easy-to-make recipes that are sure to upgrade your usual dinnertime fare, including everything from a roasted red-pepper pesto pasta with toasted walnuts and goat cheese to a cardamom-coffee vanilla crème brûlée. "These recipes are relatively quick and affordable," she says, "yet a bit more adventurous than what you make every day."
