Washington, D.C. commuters: You've been vindicated.
The infographic below, created by Nationwide Insurance, not only names Washington, D.C. as the most congested city in the United States, but also examines how much it's costing you to sit in traffic, seething at the SUV trying to merge into your lane.
Not only do we pay an average of $713 a year to seethe, but the average commuter also spends 34 hours per year sitting in traffic--which is more time than it takes to drive (without traffic) down the entire East Coast. And you already know how extended commutes negatively affect our health, relationships and happiness.
Not that you needed another reason to hate traffic jams.
