Could shopping for makeup be any more overwhelming? The sheer number of products, brands and shades is daunting enough–try filtering all those options by your skin type and tone and the challenge gets tougher.

But before we even make it to the check-out line, there’s one question every woman must answer: When it comes to looking good, is it worth it to splurge? Should you head to the counters at the mall, or just stick to the selections at your trusty drugstore?
