Woman Sells Presidential McNugget for $8,100 on eBay

A woman in Dakota City, Nebraska just auctioned off a three-year-old McNugget for $8,100.

The Telegraph reports that she sold the frozen nugget, which she believes resembles George Washington, on eBay after keeping it in her freezer since a trip to McDonald’s three years ago.

The auction site, which has rules against expired food, temporarily disabled her sale but changed its mind when it found out that she was raising the money for her church to send 50 children to summer camp.

Someone successfully sold a nugget on eBay? These are the first (of many) questions that come to mind:

  • Why does a chicken McNugget last for three years?
  • Who bought it, and what will he or she do with it?
  • How will they transport the McNugget without it defrosting and being eaten by a rogue raccoon along the way?
  • What made her think anyone would want a discarded McNugget? (And why was she right?)

As ridiculous as it is, the sale was in support of children. Keeping that in mind, we can’t help but think that George Washington would have been proud.

(And more importantly, do you see the resemblance? Yes? No? More Madison than Washington, perhaps?)
