Have you experienced an unusual amount of good fortune and luck this year?
It could be because 2011 is the Year of the Golden Rabbit. Full of unusual dates and a curious sum of two numbers, Chinese numerology deems 2011 the year of money! And it only comes around once every 823 years.
While an uncommonly lucky year isn’t an excuse to buy every lottery ticket in sight, we thought we’d share some of the cool things that have taken place so far. Who knows, maybe you’ll get a windfall after all …
It All Began On New Year’s Day
Starting with four unusual dates (1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11), the calendar year has been full of surprises. According to the feng shui calendar, each month with five sets of three consecutive days is considered a “money bag” month – and this year we have four of them. There were 5 Tuesdays, 5 Wednesdays, and 5 Thursdays in March, 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays, and 5 Sundays in July, 5 Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays in October, and there’s another string of 5 Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays coming up next month. Cha-ching!
If you think that’s weird, try adding the last two digits of the year you were born (i.e. 83 for 1983) and the age you turned this year (i.e. 28). Does it add up to 111? Get your best friend to try it. And your coworker. What about your mom? And your mom’s mom? Everyone born in the 20th century will find that the sum of these two numbers equals 111.
The Clock Strikes
If 11:11 has been showing up more frequently, it could be a sign that something important is about to happen. Some feng shui experts also believe it symbolizes a good omen or that a spirit is close by. Either way, if you happen to see the clock strike 11:11, something good may be coming your way.
The Business of Feng Shui
Feng shui experts also forecasted which industries would be successful this year. Each industry is categorized by the four elements: wood, metal, fire and water. 2011 was predicted to be a great year for metal industries (wired goods like computers) and fire industries (stock markets included). Though, is it too obvious to say that computers will do well? And we’ve all seen how the markets have been. But there are still eight weeks left in the year … maybe we’ll see things pick up!
An Element of Style
One element has been missing this year and that is the element of water. To make up for it, experts say you’ll be luckier when you wear blue–maybe in the form of a purse–and spend more time close to or swimming in water. Other lucky colors include light yellow, light brown and black.
More Good Luck for You!
