Someone once said that girls don’t sweat—they glisten. Well, that person was wrong ... But staying cool is hard, especially in the summer heat.

So, what’s a girl to do?

One option, obviously, is to ratchet up the air conditioning. But turning the dial to a cooler temperature comes with a price, and overcooling your home will counteract all the green, eco-friendly choices you’ve been making this year (so much for choosing green cleaning products, buying organic food and drinking organic wine).

    Being from blazing South Florida, I would like to think I’m an expert on this subject. First, if you sweat a lot, wearing black or navy is your best friend. Yes, they may be hotter colors to wear during the day but your sweat marks are much, much less visible than wearing a bright color like, green or pink for instance. Also, if it’s humid, don’t even think about breaking out the flat iron, it’s a waste of your time since your hair will frizz and curl very quickly. If you have waves, don’t fight them–work with them. And I disagree with the ‘take a hot shower’ slide…this only makes you more hot. I like to take cool showers in the summer, this way you’re not sweating while getting ready–and making your hair more frizzy.

    i know colleen – i love that braid!  but when you go to the video, it shows a french braid down the center back of your head.  the one in the pic is supposed to be a dutch braid and it’s very pretty.

The truth is, in many places in the country, it is just too HOT to do much outside. Swimming even feels like getting into a bath, here in Austin.
