We’d love to vacation for weeks at a time, but—as much as we deny it to our friends and significant others—it really is hard to take off time from work. There are riots right now, anyway.
Instead, we’re planning to use a couple vacation days on random Mondays or Fridays in order to take a long weekend or two during the summer. We’ll tell you our top must-do in each place, where to stay, and how to get there. For more ideas, check out Nextstop, which has handmade sightseeing itineraries from locals and co-travelers.

For each location, we’ve found a great, inexpensive place to stay, calculated travel expenses from major cities in the region, and listed the number-one thing you must do if you go.
